UX-UI Designer based in Seattle. Recent graduate from the University of Washington. I've shipped responsive web B2C designs and teach design thinking to international high school students.
I am a recent graduate from the University of Washington’s School of Information, where my studies focused on Human-Computer Interaction. As a User Experience Designer with a background in front-end development, I design for innovation while considering technical feasibility. Another side of myself is passionate about global education and empowering youth to discover their potential as individuals. I am most fulfilled when I find ways to synthesize my “IT” and “humanities” sides, such as mentoring international STEM students.
My experience with UI design began in high school, when I was the first to fulfill the Design Editor position of my school’s national award-winning newspaper (see my Nordic News portfolio).
I discovered my fascination with design on the beautiful campus of the University of Washington. My time at the iSchool was filled with opportunities to cultivate various skill areas as an informatics professional. As a result, I am self-aware of my strengths, yet can consider myself an all-rounder.
Becoming an educator was never something I considered until GPI US asked me to mentor students learning Design Thinking, a core methodology in my work as a UX Designer. This opportunity led me to understand the perspectives of my own educators, and granted me a unique joy. It is through guiding my students towards their potential that I discover my own.

As a freshman in high school, I saw my Japanese language studies as simply a graduation requirement. A school trip to Japan sparked a desire to someday return to the country, and I decided to continue my language studies in university. Taking a step back from studying Japanese and Japan, I examined myself as a foreign language learner and came to recognize my studies were not limited to subjects, but also resulted in countless relationships, a broadened perspective, and a catalyst for my future goals and dreams.
If you're interested in Japan or learning Japanese, ask me about it!
My involvement as an educator is attributed to my own studies and interest in Japan and its language. As a high schooler, I learned the basics of English as a Second Language teaching through helping Japanese middle schoolers practice conversational English. Since university, I have mentored several high schoolers from Japan via online programs. In 2022, I was fortunately able to meet with some of my students in-person during a month-long volunteer trip to teach at different high schools in Japan, and have since travelled domestically to welcome students in the States as well.
At first, I was uncomfortable and felt unqualified for the title, 先生, or “teacher.” However, through getting to know my students and working with other educators, I recognize the value of my work and am proud to be someone my students trust and believe in. As an educator, not only do I find joy in my students, but also in sharing my work with others interested in the field.
If you're interested in getting involved as a global educator, ask me about it!
